Conflict Training & Workshops

Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training

We provide a range of training courses & workshops designed to enhance and promote competence in working with conflict. We believe that the best training involves some fun, is thought provoking, creative and engaging. Our approach is to use a mix of learning including facilitated group discussion, experiential learning through action and sharing experience with tools and techniques for practical application. For in-house training we base learning activities and exercises on real life work situations, which reflect the context in which your organisation operates.

Below are examples of the training that we can offer as in-house courses. All training is tailored to the specific needs of the organisation; it can be adapted to be suitable for those new to line management or as part of a senior management leadership development programme.

  • Foundation in Workplace Mediation A fully accredited workplace mediation training programme covering over 40 hours of contact time and private study equipping delegates with the skills, underpinning knowledge and attitudes to be able to practise as workplace mediation. This can be combined with assistance in setting up an in-house mediation scheme for organisations.
  • Introduction to Mediation A one day programme which gives delegates an understanding of how workplace mediation works in practice and a taster of the skills and processes involved. This course will not turn you into a mediator; it is designed to provide an understanding of the principles of mediation and the benefits and power of mediation.
  • Resolution Skills for Managers – A one day course that provides delegates with an understanding of how and why conflict arises in the workplace, an appreciation of the different conflict resolution options available and the key skills required to manage conflict positively. Includes a free copy of The Manager’s Guide to Mediating Conflict by Alison Love
  • Introduction to Conflict Coaching This one day course is suitable for those with some coaching and/or mediation experience and focuses on the CINERGY  model. Conflict coaching is a specific form of coaching that enables individuals to better understand a conflict situation and empower them to have the skills and confidence to determine how best  to resolve matters.
  • Handling difficult conversations – A one day course for those who want to gain the skills to manage a difficult conversation with confidence and develop new approaches to handling difficult conversations in the workplace
  • Workplace Investigations – How to manage and conduct workplace investigations that ensure fairness and robustness. Suitable for HR practitioners or line managers who either conduct investigations themselves or support those that do.

What delegates say about our training:-

“Very thought provoking session which will demand a re-evaluation of how to approach certain problems”

“A throughly enjoyable course. It was a safe environment where I felt comfortable asking questions”

“Very informative and thought provoking. Re-inforced my understanding and confidence to handle such issues in the future”

“Excellent course and very relaxed delivery made me want to contribute”

“A well presented course, I felt the level of engagement with the participants was at the right level and well positioned”

“Very enjoyable, provided very useful tools and techniques that will have a practical application in the workplace, Thank you”

If you would like to discuss your training needs then please do contact us; we are more than happy to discuss options, prepare draft programmes for you to consider and work with you to identify the learning outcomes.

We also provide interactive workshops on topical issues around conflict resolution. We provide these in-house as well as at local events. We are currently running the following workshops:

  • Snakes and Ladders – this is an interactive one hour session exploring the various options available to manage workplace conflict and the pros and cons of those options. Suitable for HR professionals and  Managers.

  • Just a bit of banter or sexual harassment? Performance Management v bullying? – This one hour session explores the difference between banter v harassment and how to define boundaries of appropriate behaviour, when performance management becomes bullying, approaches to promoting an environment where it is safe to speak out or complain, how to take care of the person against whom the allegations have been made and how to overcome some of the barriers to informal resolution. Suitable for HR professionals and Managers.

Please contact us if you are interested in us delivering one of our workshops to discuss further.
