Foundation in Workplace Mediation

When: March 20 2017 | Where: All Nations Centre, Cardiff

This five day programme is running in Cardiff in on 20, 21, 22 and 30 & 31 March 2017. The programme covers all aspects of the learning required to start practising as a workplace mediator and leading to accreditation for successful participants. Places are limited to ensure full participation in learning exercises and case study exercises and the training is lead by experienced and practising mediators.

Overview

This five-day programme covers all aspects of the learning required to start practising as a workplace mediator. The programme is accredited by Ascentis. The programme includes 40 hours of contact time and around 20 hours of private study time. Successful participants will gain Ascentis credit awards at level 3 and receive a “Certificate in Workplace Mediation.”

Learning Objectives

By the end of the programme learners will be able to:

  1. Undertake initial meetings with each party in dispute
  2. Understand the dynamics of typical behaviour of those in conflict
  3. Use a range of communication skills effectively
  4. Conduct structured round table mediation sessions
  5. Manage various blocks to conflict resolution
  6. Act impartially, non-judgementally, and without discrimination
  7. Work effectively in partnership with a co-mediator

Additionally, participants will have had the opportunity to develop skills and techniques that will have applications in all aspects of their work.

Delivery

A mix of lecturing, experiential learning and use of case studies.

Places are limited to ensure full participation in learning exercises and case study exercises and the training is lead by experienced and practising mediators.
