Expert in: Mediation Services Workplace Investigations Supporting Organisations
Kim is an experienced independent investigator and accredited workplace and employment mediator with 30 years’ experience as a senior employment lawyer, specialising in public sector work, before joining Resolution at Work in 2022.
Kim worked as a senior employment lawyer for Eversheds and Geldards, based in Cardiff, where she was a Partner from 2001 to 2021. During that time Kim dealt with the full range of complex employment matters focussing on different specialisms from business transfers, restructures, complex disciplinary and grievance cases, and tribunal claims.
However, Kim was best known for her expertise in “equal pay” and the design, negotiation and implementation of equality proofed pay structures. She lead an All-Wales consortium of Local Authorities in the resolution of mass / multi-million pound equal pay litigation and the design, negotiation and implementation of new pay and grading structures, all of which was resolved without a single industrial dispute.
In recent years Kim also specialised in complex workplace and governance investigations, particularly for public bodies. Kim draws on her understanding of the complexities and uncertainties that litigation entails, to enthuse clients to embrace the opportunity to explore alternative dispute resolution opportunities and help them achieve solutions to workplace issues that strengthen rather than undermine.
Kim’s legal skills, as well as her strategic and analytic approach to the resolution of issues, ability to think “outside the box” and adopt a sheer common-sense approach, have gained her a reputation for sound judgement and being a safe and trusted ally.
Kim enjoys with spending time with her friends and family and, pandemics permitting, exploring the new travel destinations. This summer she spent a month discovering the charm, culture and cuisine of Northern Spain . Since returning she is trying to enjoy an intensive fitness recovery programme of swimming and Pilates.
Kim has for many years supported her local schools as a Governor and is actively involved in programmes to raise career awareness and support to the pupil community.

I have found the experience of coaching extremely positive. From the initial assessment of my traits (using the CDP Model) to working one to one with Naomi, I have managed to identify personal development objectives and have been provided with new techniques and support to achieve them. I cannot recommend this service more, especially for people in the Veterinary industry that often do not receive these skills within their training. I feel much more confident in completing my job role with minimal personal stress.

It is not uncommon for conflict to arise between different teams. This can have considerable impact on both individuals and performance. A number of approaches can be used in this sort of scenario, including neutral assessment, team facilitation and group mediation.
Agreement could not be reached to enter into mediation in this situation and therefore coaching was an alternative support provided to one of the parties. The relationship between a majority shareholder and a shareholder/director was causing conflict. The relationship would be ok at times but disagreements would flare up from time to time and this was beginning to impact on the business.
