Julie at work

Julie started her career as a Learning Disabilities Nurse, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism to live independent and rich lives. Working in this sector gave Julie an appetite for supporting people with their own personal development and her career side stepped into Learning and Development. She has had many years of experience with Workforce  development, content design and delivery including Leadership Development.

She has the skills to take a blended approach to learning, including online learning facilitation and is used to facilitation and delivery of courses and workshops to large and small groups including managers at all levels.

She developed her skills in coaching and mediation. She implemented and managed an internal workplace mediation scheme, and has been facilitating individual and team meditations for over 10 years.

She is passionate about supporting people to resolve their differences and conflict and finds the whole process rewarding and empowering and she feels privileged to be part of those “light bulb” moments of understanding between parties.

“Its all about perspectives and seeing things from the other person view point and once parties get down to talking about what they need, and really listening to each other this is when the magic of mediation happens!”

As a qualified coach, Julie works with colleagues from all different levels, and delivers coaching for managers training.

In all her interactions Julie uses the tools from mediation, coaching & Learning to bring a blend of approaches to the situation and she is not afraid to change direction to suit the needs of the person or group.

Alongside her career in social care Julie trained to be a Sign Language Interpreter and spent several years working as a freelance interpreter for and with the Deaf community. She understands the importance of communication access for all and feels a great sense of achievement to be part of a collaborative solution.
